Why hockey wax?
Hockey wax is designed to be applied on top of taped blades to help reduce snow and moisture buildup during games and practices.
The tape improves puck feel and grip, while the wax helps protect the tape and keep a more consistent feel on the ice.
Most players apply a thin layer of wax over fresh tape before skating.
Tips & Tricks
- Apply a light and even layer — too much wax can make the blade feel sticky.
- Best used on fresh tape.
- Cover the toe and edges of the blade where snow usually builds up most.
- Reapply when the tape starts feeling wet or worn.
- Store the wax at room temperature for smoother application.
Common Mistakes
- Applying wax directly on the blade without tape underneath.
- Using too much wax at once.
- Applying new wax on old, wet or heavily worn tape.
How To Remove Hockey Wax
Simply remove the old tape from the blade and re-tape the stick as usual. Any remaining wax can be wiped off with a cloth or warm water if needed.
Fresh tape. Fresh wax. Ready for puck drop.
